" If You Could Relive One Day From Your Past, Which Would It Be, And Would You Do Anything Differently?"
When I was in grade school I had long hair. (it was the mid-seventies, and I thought this was a particularly cool look) I went to my babysitter's house for lunch and she decided to give me a haircut. What she gave me was a crew-cut (I make a distinction here because in my book, a crew-cut does not meet the criteria required to technically be called a haircut) and I was utterly humiliated and thoroughly pissed off. I went back to school wearing my hood over my head to hide this grotesque violation and kept the hood on in my classroom. Eventually the teacher asked me to remove it, and I said no. She kept insisting and I kept refusing, at one point I even told her I didn't have a shirt underneath and needed to keep it on. (She wanted me to take off the jacket) In the middle of this exchange between the teacher and I, a classmate behind me suddenly pulled off the hood and exposed my hideous shame. I snapped. I turned around on him, grabbed him by the shirt-collars and threw him over four desks and against the wall. I ran out of the schoool and all the way home, where I sat in a playground alone until my mother came home. The boy had broken his arm in two places, and I wasn't invited to come back to class. If I could relive that day, I think I would have to do the right thing - and kill the little son of a bitch.
